There's always someone making moves with the HL thing.
Do you think we can move the world? If you know
more about this I would greatly appreciate hearing from
you.
I have been at parties where some wise guy says "I
can spell any last name! I'll betcha' five dollars!"
"OK your on," I say. "My last name is Hlavac"
Mr. Wiseguy starts "L..."
"Wrong!"
"What? What do you mean I'm wrong?"
I tell him "the first letter is 'H,' so you're wrong. So you owe
me five dollars.
"Hey, that's a trick..." they complain.
Out comes the driver's licence from the wallet. It's returned
shortly thereafter along with that fiver I've made over 50
bucks on this over the years.
And I'll also admit that when I was hanging around on
street corners as a teenager I was always the one to talk to
the inquiring cops. "What's your name?" they would ask.
"Hlavac" I replied
"How do you spell that?" they'd ask.
"Just like it sounds," I said with just the slightest wry smile.
Then I would repeat it real slow and deliberate, "LA-Vick."
