We are now engaged in creating "democracies" in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we tried
in Haiti. We are roundly criticised for some failure in this process or another.
However, we really have never had a manual on how to create freedom, and build it
up. What would such a manual look like?
Among the parts would be the idea of Federations. That is, there are several
ethnic groups in Iraq, and we should just draw a line around them and say -- you
there are now a separate sovereign entity for all domestic affairs. You no longer
have to worry about what goes on over there -- you only have to worry about what
goes on where you are.
The protection of work by individuals is a necessary step. The further erosion of
the socialist belief will help this. Until this concept is accepted there is no way for a
society to truly have freedom.
