Why are we supporting sugar growing in places where we are destroying a unique
environment -- the Everglades, South Louisiana and Hawaii -- when we can be
importing sugar from the Caribbean and Central America.  This would preserve our
environment at home, where we're spending several billion dollars to protect what's
left and right what's wrong.  It would bring new work and business to these poor
countries, raising their standard of living.
They also wouldn't be as quick to immigrate here.
Look, by cutting sugar subsidies in the United States we can achieve a multiple
of good goads:
Environmental Protection at home
More employment for people in poor countries
Less federal spending
Lower prices for all consumers
More business with import export companies
Liberals can be happy that we are doing these things
Conservatives can be happy that we are doing these things
