The Law

The law is not fair, just, simple, or right in any matter, it is merely the law

There are two legal systems, or theories of law, on earth, the civil law and the common law

Law is meant to control the exercise of an individual's rights and obligations and the
societies obligations

By a quirk of history English colony derived nations have the common law to one degree or
another: England, Canada, The United States, Australia, New Zealand, more so, members
of the Commonwealth less so.

All other nations have the Civil Law

Nearly all International Law is developing on a common law model

Civil law is control from the ruler, parliament and the judiciary working together against the
individual

Common law is the accumulation of law by legislatures and individuals arguing the meaning
and impact of the law amongst themselves and against the state, with judges listenting to
both sides.
