And here I am playing
piano at the
Restaurant El
Memorial. On the
second day I was in
Mazatlan I discovered
this place and asked
if I could play the
piano. The lady
behind the counter
said "Sure." And
when I was done she
asked me if I wanted
to come back. And
back. And back.
So I wound up playing
here five nights a
week, from about 7 or
7:30 to 10 or 11 each
night. All I got was
some tips, which were
pretty good, and sold
a few CDs, and coffee
and cake at the end
of the night. It was
great to have this
nearly all Mexican
clientelle so happy to
listen to my music,
and say so
repeatedly.
The pictures were
taken by gringos who
came in to hear me
play, and one of them
used the bottom shot
to paint the picture of
me which adorns the
front page of this
website.
